This is the ultimate Boho accessory, wear it with anything to give your look a vibe that's both earthy and refined.
This is an amazing 1960s-1970s, handmade necklace. With 80 zigzag edge white Coffee Bean cowry seashells alternately braided on a long strand that creates the chain. The mandala is made of 16 Large 1" Money Cowry shells; "This species is called "money cowry" because the shells were historically widely used in many Pacific and Indian Ocean countries as shell money before coinage was in common usage." The money cowrie/cowry is separated by tiny light yellow Niihau shells, the center of the mandala has eight, large 1" light brown Snakehead cowry shells. This is a medium to heavy piece with high quality vintage shells well made on heavy duty fishing line. Even thought the coffee bean cowrie look jagged, they are soft and feel silky on the neck and are in no way uncomfortable. This was made in Hawaii, date unknown. This a modern Art Piece, truly a one of a kind, great statement necklace. One of a kind, makes a sweet gift.
